Halloween Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treaters

Halloween is a fun night for families to enjoy, but safety should always be the top priority. Here are a few helpful reminders to keep everyone safe:

• Costume Safety
  • Choose light-colored costumes or add reflective tape to help drivers see you.
  • Avoid masks that block vision.
  • Make sure costumes fit properly to prevent trips and falls.
  • Carry a flashlight or glow stick to light your way and allow drivers to see you
• Trick-or-Treaters
  • young children should always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Stay on sidewalks whenever possible and cross streets at intersections or crosswalks.
  • Visit homes with porch lights on.
  • Never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle.
• Treat Safety
  • Discard any package that appears to be opened or homemade.
• Driver Reminders
  • Slow down and stay alert
  • Watch for children walking on roadways and curbs
  • Enter and exit driveways carefully
